Also worth visiting are the Sea Museum, in Benitses, the Pontikonisi, near Kanoni, The park of Mon Repo, the summer residence of the former Royal family of Greece, Achilleion, the royal palace built by Empress Sissi of Austria, near Gastouri, The Grava Caves, near Axaravi, The Central Corfu Folklore Museum, in Sinarades, e the 'Mimbeli' Castle, in Ipsos.
The tour of the island of Corfu offers enchanting panoramas of numerous bays and islets with fantastic beaches. In a southerly direction than the capital Kerkira is located the Achilleion, a large villa built by the Austrian Empress Sissi, with a statue statue of Achilles positioned on a terrace from which one can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Corfu.
There are equipped beaches near all the big hotels and in the localities of Mon Repo, Anemomilo, Glyfada, Benitses, Mesoggi, Issos, Miramare, Kalamo, Dragotina, Aghios Georgios, Palaiokastritsa, Ipsos, Afiona, Sidari, Moraitika, Axaravi, Kontokali, Roda, Kalamaki, Kavos, Kassiopi, Kouloura, Pyrgi and Dassia. Do not miss a visit to the wonderful and beautiful beaches of Paramona, Mirtiotissa and Boukari. Less crowded and quieter are the beaches of the southern coast such as Xalikouna, Prasoudi, Kanouli, Marta, Perama, Gialiskari, Kontogialos, Gardenos, Vitalades, Marathia, Skidi and by Mega Xoro.
Other urban centres
Among the other tourist resorts of the island of Corfu we mention: Glyfada, Axaravi, Gouvia equipped with numerous hotel facilities, Benitses, Kavos famous for fun and entertainment for young tourists, Dasia, Kassiopi equipped with the second port of the island of Corfu. Kontokali, Ipsos, which offers a wide range of apartments and other accommodation facilities, Pelekas, a characteristic village located in the hinterland, Roda, located in the northern part, Sidari and finally Palaiokastritsa.
