TRAINS.
A railway line about four kilometers long connects
Terminal 2 with the Terminal 1 terminal.
The structure is underground, the new station is of the through type
thus avoiding the current need for a transfer on the shuttle bus service to/from Terminal 1, thereby
getting a
significant increase in the quality of service offered, with obvious benefits also in terms of
the impact on the territory.
The railway floor at the new stop will be located approximately 12.00 m below the elevation
media that currently presents the campaign plan in the area of intervention.
The structure of the station was built on two different
levels, the first at the platforms of the railway stop,
the second place at a higher altitude, at the
service mezzanine and the connecting tunnel with the passenger terminal.
Malpensa airport is currently connected to the local FNM network with shuttle and suburban trains, as well as to the Italian high-speed network with Frecciarossa trains, which allow you to reach the airport directly from Milan and from the Milan - Naples route. The final design of the proposed railway section, 3.8 km long, practically represents an extension beyond the T1, therefore always with access from the South, and is partly financed by the European Union.
