to the exhibition area
while the remaining space is used
for event promotion purposes
cultural events, conferences and debates
to art, culture, social life.
For these reasons the
Province Palace remains
a place open to citizens and others
territory of Bergamo, becoming at the same time a point of
reference point for the Bergamo community.
Era
Built during the period between the years 1864 and 1871, the Province Palace it is the first public work created in Bergamo, after the annexation to the Kingdom of Italy.
The structural characteristics of the building and its decorations are made of Camerata Cornello stone,
and represent a significant example of Bergamo architecture during the nineteenth century.
The building has a very characteristic 'U' shape. In the facade part
decorations are found
interesting with ornamental criteria linked together by decorations involving 54 windows,
a stringcourse between the mezzanine floor and the first floor, an attic cornice and a gutter
decorated chests of drawers.
In particular, the panels located above the central windows, between the Corinthian columns, are five high reliefs
in concrete depicting, respectively from the left, nominated Bartolomeo Colleoni
