Located about 28 kilometers from the capital, Rome's Fiumicino Airport is the largest airport Italian by number of passengers in transit, it has four terminals intended for flight arrivals and departures national, international and intercontinental. Also referred to as Leonardo da Vinci the Fiumicino Airport of Rome has four runways for landing and the aircraft take off. Regarding transport to reach the airport there are several bus lines that connect it to the capital and to other minor urban centres, as well as to the main stations and Ciampino.

HIGHWAY - TRAINS - BUS
Cotral buses connect each terminal to the Tiburtina railway station in central Rome, they also stop in Piazza dei Cinquecento, in front of Roma Termini station, travel tickets can be purchased directly on board the bus. Other Cotral buses connect each Terminal to the Cornelia metro station of Line A and at the Eur-Magliana underground station on Line B. Cotral bus stops are clearly signposted in each Fiumicino airport terminal.

By car you can quickly reach the Roman airport thanks to the Grande Raccordo Anulare of Rome, getting onto the A91 motorway. The taxi service is available at the exit of each arrival terminal of the fiumicino airport, the route towards the center of Rome it takes about an hour. The cheapest car parks for long stays are located in the uncovered area along the highway, a free shuttle bus connects you to the various terminals. The train station at the airport is located in front of Terminal 3, the railway service connects the Termini station in Rome by means of trains Leonardo Express departing every 30 minutes from platform 28, while the local train Fr1 leaves every 20 minutes and arrives at the Tiburtina station stopping in Trastevere, Ostiense and Tuscolana.

Terminal 1 is generally reserved for Alitalia flights for the Schengen area, Air France and KLM, while Terminal 2 to Wizz Air airlines , easyJet and Blue Air with flights to European destinations, terminal 3 for domestic flights, international, non-Schengen and intercontinental flights of Alitalia and other companies, finally, terminal 5 of the Fiumicino Airport used exclusively for non-Schengen sensitive international flights to Israel or the United States. A shuttle service connects all Terminals to Terminal 5 every 20 minutes, from 5:00 to 18:00.
Check-in operations at the departure of Fiumicino Airport vary by destination, airline, domestic and international flights, therefore we recommend to inquire in advance from the carrier concerned on acceptance times.
A large commercial area with more than 130 shops is present inside the terminal of the Leonardo da Vinci Airport with bars, cafes, restaurants, last minute travel agency and boutiques specialized in Italian fashion brands and other Italian design objects. Frequent Alitalia customers can earn additional miles with the purchase of perfumes, liqueurs and wines.
